Happy to receive this newsletter. Good news travel fast. The concert is scheduled at Southbank Centre, Royal Festival Hall on May 10, 2013. Together with Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and a tenor to be announced. There'll be a selection of much-loved arias and duets from the great French and Italian operas. Elusive, but there's long time till May.

On the occasion of King Michael I's 91st birthday, Angela Gheorghiu received today the Nihil Sine Deo decoration, a royal medal to award her exceptional merits in promoting Romanian culture.

I listened to the entire radio broadcast (including Bartok's Concert for orchestra that I don't get to listen to very often) of Solti's Centennial Concert that took place in Chicago on Sunday. I listen and enjoyed every minute of it because of the special, festive feeling it gave me. Addio del passato knocked me out. Just because. It's not a review but some feelings shaped in words. The heart doesn't need technical reasons. One hundred percent subjective, but because I couldn't see what was going on on stage my mind flew away, to La Traviata in New York back in 2010 when I first saw and listen live to Angela's Violetta. Amazing performance, unforgettable moments afterwords.

Not from the concert, but from an all Romanian encounter at Carnegie Hall. At Weil Hall, Laura Tatulescu (soprano, photo. Debut at Carnegie Hall), Vlad Iftinca (piano, photo) and Matei Varga (piano) had their recial, Lipatti and His World, performing works by Lipatti (US Premiere), Enescu, Jora, Ravel, and Silvestri. As Angela Gheorghiu performed at the same time but in Stern Auditorium, they eventually met.
I posted these photos to mark the encounter and to congratulate my four amazing Romanians that make me so proud on their performances. Thumbs up!

All the best in the world to such a great lady of the opera on her 87th birthday! It was such an honor to meet her one year ago. Oh my, time flies. But I remember those gentle eyes and kind smile as if it were yesterday.
My words don't help too much describing the joy her voice brings to me. And how much I admire her very long career. I celebrate this day by listening to her many recordings posted on YouTube.

On the occasion of the 125th anniversary, Concertgebouw organizes a series of concerts throughout 2013. Angela Gheorghiu will perform in Amsterdam on September 24, 2013. No other info available for the moment.
The tickets, ranging from 49 to 130 euro, are already on sale on the website of the venue. Before buying, I'd wait for a confirmation on the official website.
I've never been to Amsterdam. What better reason to go than this?

EMI Classics Italy announced on Facebook that the Milanese launching of Tosca DVD will take place on October 3 at 5:30pm at Feltrinelli di Piazza Piemonte (Wagner metro stop on M1).
According to EMI, Angela Gheorghiu will attend the event and will sign DVDs.
